Spotted by Nick Wheat on the Deltic Preservation Society website...

It is with deep regret that we have to announce that the Deltic Crimpsall Farewell cannot go ahead at Doncaster Works. This is due to recent incidents at the works which has had an adverse effect upon the tenants working in the Crimpsall repair shop, and the landowners not wishing for any further potential problems. However we have had discussions with various parties and are pleased to announce that the event WILL take place at Barrow Hill, Chesterfield, on 12th & 13th August. The weekend will be a tribute to Doncaster Works. The aim is to still bring all six surviving production Deltics together for the first time since 1982 (subject to availability) with Deltic related exhibits, and Deltic-hauled trains on the demonstration line.

Andrew Sollis has updated the Churnet Valley Railway Extra website with a few pictures from the Fathers' Day services:

The magazine digest on the Gauge O Guild website will search for articles in various railway and model railway magazines. It isn't comprehensive, but is a useful resource, nevertheless.

Ralph Rawlinson's European News

Nuremberg - Munich A new high speed line between Nuremberg and Munich was opened on 28 May, reducing journey times by up to 30 minutes. The high-speed stretch of line is 89 kilometres (55 miles) out of the total distance of 171 kilometres (106 miles) between the two cities. Following further upgrading of the remainder of the route, DB is hoping to reduce the travelling time by a further 15 minutes at the December timetable change.

Köln Steam Specials Further my previous item it is understood that this year's specials will be a repeat of the "Kolle Rundfahrt"steam specials which ran on selected Sundays last summer.

Cork - Midleton Iarnród Éireann has said that advertisements were to appear in local and national newspapers from 26th May to commence the Railway Order process for the restoration of rail services on the Cork-Midleton rail line. An integral part of the Transport 21 investment programme, the upgrade and restoration of the 6.25m Glounthaune to Midleton line will enable Iarnród Éireann to begin commuter services between Cork and Midleton. Services proposed on the route would be initially peak services every 30 minutes between Midleton and Cork, with the potential to expand to every 15 minutes as demand increases. Off-peak services would operate hourly, and all services would be operated by commuter railcars. It is envisaged that the line would reopen in 2008.
